Therapy in San Francisco for folks struggling with anxiety, a harmful inner critic, or unsatisfying relationship dynamics

You struggle with parts of yourself you don’t like, and self-acceptance seems like an elusive or even impossible concept. You’re perplexed as to why you overreact, avoid, shut down, or experience intense emotional responses to seemingly ordinary situations.

You work hard to keep these emotions and tendencies away or under the surface, but the problem is, they never actually go away.

These parts of yourself amp up tension in your relationships and make you feel awful about yourself, and you wonder if there is something wrong with you.

I’m here to help you cultivate a secure relationship with yourself and others

I’m Whitney (she/her), a San Francisco therapist. Since 2011, I’ve been helping people who struggle with anxiety, dislike parts of themselves, or feel stuck in challenging relationship patterns to find more ease and connection in their lives.

Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Emotionally-focused Therapy (EFT), I guide my clients toward accessing their vulnerability and connecting with their inner worlds to gain a felt sense of security inside themselves and in their relationships.

In our work together you’ll...

  • transform your relationship with anxiety and become more compassionate to the parts of yourself you struggle to accept.

  • learn why you do what you do (there are good reasons!) by understanding the different adult attachment styles.

  • discover underlying vulnerabilities, fears, unmet needs, and longings and grow more comfortable communicating them to others.

  • feel more love and understanding for yourself and others and be more likely to get your needs met by those in your life who matter the most to you.

  • broaden your access to a range of feelings and see more possibilities in situations that formally felt fixed or limited.
